The Pascagoula High School "IMPACT" Show Choir was founded by Shanna Luckett (Shanna Norman, at the time) in February of 2002. What started with about twelve students has now grown into an award winning, nationally renowned group, consistently having about sixty students every year.

2010

The PHS IMPACT Show Choir is under the direction of Shanna Luckett, choreographer Shawn Eck, instrumental instructor Greg Puckett, and stage crew manager Jason Luckett. The show choir consists of 34 singer/dancers, 11 instrumentalists, and 16 stage crew members. IMPACT began the 2010 competition season by traveling to Hattiesburg, MS, where they competed in the Misissippi Show Choir Contest at William Carey University and received First Place in the middle mixed division. They advanced to the Finals competition where they were awarded First Runner Up overall. IMPACT then traveled to Homewood, AL, and competed in the South Central Classic at Homewood High School, receiving First Place in their division. They advanced to the Finals competition where they were awarded Fourth Runner Up overall. IMPACT also traveled to Petal, MS, and competed in the Petal Show Choir Invitational at Petal High School. They were awarded First Place in the small mixed division; then, they advanced to the Finals competition that evening, receiving Second Runner Up overall. IMPACT concluded their competition season by traveling to Sloan, IA, competing in the Westwood Jubilation, held at Westwood High School. In the 4A Division prelims, IMPACT was awarded First Runner Up and a caption award of Best Stage Crew. IMPACT advanced to the finals competition and was awarded Third Runner Up overall.
Needless to say, IMPACT had an EXTRAORDINARY year. This year's Senior Class has never lost their division in competition; and, for the first year, IMPACT advanced to the Finals competition at every competition they participated in.
2009

The
PHS IMPACT Show Choir is under the direction of Shanna Luckett, choreographer
Shawn Eck, instrumental instructor John Taylor, and stage crew manager Jason
Luckett. The show choir consists of 33
singer/dancers, 9 instrumentalists, and 13 stage crew members. IMPACT began the 2009 competition season by
traveling to Ellisville, MS, where they competed in the South Jones
Invitational at Jones County Junior College and received First Place in the small
mixed division. They advanced to the
Finals competition where they were awarded Second Runner Up overall. IMPACT then traveled to Opelika, AL, to
compete in the Southern Showcase at Opelika High School, where they received First
Place in their division. Next, IMPACT traveled
to Homewood, AL, and competed in the South Central Classic at Homewood High
School, receiving First Place in their division as well as caption awards of
Best Vocals, Best Choreography, and Best Overall Effect. They advanced to the Finals competition where
they were awarded Second Runner Up overall.
IMPACT also traveled to Laurel, MS, and competed in the West Jones Show
Choir Invitational at West Jones High School. They were awarded First Place in the middle
mixed division; then, they advanced to the Finals competition that evening,
receiving Second Runner Up overall. IMPACT
concluded their competition season by traveling to Nashville, TN, competing in
the Show Choir Nationals Competition, held at the Grand Ole Opry. In the Mixed Division Prelims, IMPACT was
awarded caption awards of Best Vocals, Best Stage Crew, and Best Women Sound;
and, Courtney Morris was awarded Outstanding Female Performer. IMPACT advanced to the finals competition and
was awarded Second Runner Up overall.
This year’s Senior Class has won their division 14 out of the 18
competitions they have participated in within the last four years.
2008
The
PHS IMPACT Show Choir is under the direction of Shanna Luckett,
choreographer Shawn Eck, instrumental instructor John Taylor, and stage
crew manager Jason Luckett. The show choir consists of 31
singer/dancers, 13 instrumentalists, and 14 stage crew members. IMPACT
began the 2008 competition season by traveling to Ellisville, MS, where
they competed in the South Jones Invitational at Jones County Junior
College and received First Place. They also advanced to the Finals
competition, where they were awarded Overall captions of Best Vocals
and Best Choreography as well as being named Grand Champion of the
Overall Competition. IMPACT then traveled to Birmingham, AL and
competed in the South Central Classic at Homewood High School,
receiving caption awards of Best Vocals, Best Choreography, and Best
Overall Effect as well as First Place in the small division. They
advanced to the Finals competition, where they were awarded Third
Runner-Up Overall. IMPACT also traveled to Petal, MS and competed in
the Petal Show Choir Invitational at Petal High School. They were
awarded First Place in the small division. IMPACT concluded their
competition season by traveling to Orlando, FL, competing in the Fame
Orlando National Competition, held at the Hard Rock Live Theatre. For
the first time in this show choir’s history, IMPACT advanced to the
finals competition at a national competition and was awarded Third
Runner-Up Overall.
This year’s Senior Class has won their division 10 out of the 14
competitions they have participated in within the last four years.
They are also the first class that has ever been named Grand Champion
at a competition.
2007

IMPACT is
comprised of 34 singer/dancers, 14 instrumentalists, and 14 stage
crewmembers. In January, IMPACT traveled to Ellisville, MS and competed
in the South Jones Invitational and received 1st place, made the finals
competition, and received 1st runner-up overall and the Best Vocal
caption award. Then IMPACT traveled to Opelika, AL and competed in the
Southern Classic Competition and received 1st place, made the finals
competition, and received 2nd runner-up overall. Next IMPACT traveled
to Birmingham, AL and competed in the South Central Classic and
received 1st place, Best Vocals, and Best Choreography in their
division. Then they competed in the finals competition and received 3rd
runner-up overall. Next IMPACT traveled to Hattiesburg, MS and competed
in the Pinebelt Show Choir Invitational where they received 1st place,
made the finals competition, and received 1st runner-up overall.
Finally IMPACT traveled to Nashville, TN and competed in the Show Choir
Nationals competition and missed finals by .8 points but the stage crew
came away with the BEST STAGE CREW AWARD. So as you can see, IMPACT had
an OUTSTANDING year
2006

This year, IMPACT
has had to overcome many obstacles. They were out of school in
September, which was a crucial time because that is when the students
really learn how to sing and dance at the same time, due to Hurricane
Katrina. But they came back from the hurricane, and pulled themselves
together and had a very successful competition season.
In February, IMPACT traveled to Petal, MS and competed in the MS Show
Choir Contest and received 1st runner-up out of 8 groups. Next they
traveled to Birmingham, AL and competed in the South Central Classic
and received 2nd runner-up out of 14 groups. Next they traveled to
Hattiesburg and competed in the North Forrest Show Choir Invitational
and received 2nd runner-up. Then they traveled to Petal, MS and
competed in the Petal Show Choir Invitational and received 1st place
out of 13 different groups in the tri-state area, and they received one
of the top scores of the day, and competed again that evening the in
Finals competition. Out of all the groups that attended this
competition, IMPACT received 4th runner-up. Finally with all the money
they collected from the “Downtown Got Run Over By Katrina” CD, they
traveled to Orlando, FL and competed in the Fame Events National Show
Choir Competition and the IMPACT stage crew came away with the BEST
STAGE CREW AWARD.
2005

The PHS IMPACT Show
Choir is under the direction of Shanna Luckett with choreographer Shawn
Eck. The show choir consists of 33 singer/dancers, 12 instrumentalists,
and 13 stage crew members. The 2005 competition season was very
successful for the IMPACT Show Choir. They began their season by
traveling to Poplarville, MS and competed in the Mississippi Show Choir
Contest at Pearl River Community College and received 1st place in
their category out of 8 show choirs. Next IMPACT traveled to
Birmingham, AL and competed in the South Central Classic Competition at
Homewood High School and received 3rd place and Best Choreography in
their category out of 14 show choirs. Finally, IMPACT completed their
competition season by traveling to Petal, MS and competed in the Petal
High School Show Choir Invitational and received 1st place in their
category out of 13 show choirs and obtained one of the top five scores
out of all the show choirs from the whole day. IMPACT advanced to the
Finals competition and received 4th runner-up out of all 23-show choirs
that attended the event. IMPACT had a very successful competition
season that year.
2004

In 2004, IMPACT competed
in several different competitions across the Southeast. They first
traveled to Poplarville, MS and competed in the Mississippi Show choir
Contest at Pearl River Community College. They then traveled to Petal,
MS and competed in the Petal Show Choir Invitational at Petal High
School where they received 2nd runner up in the small division
category. For their next competition, the group traveled to Atlanta, GA
for the Music Festivals Competition, where they competed with other
groups from Mississippi, Virginia, Florida, and Oklahoma. IMPACT
received straight “Superiors,” and was named Grand Champion in the show
choir category. IMPACT also received awards for Most Outstanding
Instrumentalist Pit, and Overall Best Show Choir/Jazz Choir. Finally,
IMPACT concluded their competition season by traveling to Vicksburg, MS
where they competed in the Vicksburg Rivercity Invitational where they
received straight “Superiors” and were awarded 1st place in the show
choir category. IMPACT was also asked to provide the entertainment for
the Awards Ceremony.
2003

2002
The Pascagoula IMPACT Show Choir was started in February 2002 when Mrs. Luckett, who was Ms. Norman at that time, began teaching at Pascagoula High School. The show choir consisted of twelve singer/dancers: six ladies and six gentlemen. The show choir competed in one competition that year. They traveled to Vicksburg, MS, to compete in the Rivercity Invitational at Vicksburg High School. IMPACT scored straight superiors.
